Gummy Bear Science Experiment

Last week, we did a Gummy Bear Science Experiment in order to test how a gummy bear would be affected if left overnight in a variety of liquids.

We made observations about our gummy bears: what they looked like, felt like, their length, mass, etc.

Next, we made a hypothesis of what would happen to the gummy bear for each type of liquid.

Then we put a gummy bear in water, saltwater, baking soda water, and vinegar.

The next day, we took the gummy bears out and placed them on the correct labels so that we don't forget which liquid it was in.

Then we made the same observations and measurements as we did the day before.

Finally, we graphed the changes and wrote our conclusions.  We found that the gummy bear soaked in water overnight grew bigger and got heavier.  The gummy bear in vinegar broke apart in pieces and was very gooey.  The one in baking soda also fell apart, and the gummy bear in salt water grew bigger and got heavier.

We had a lot of fun experimenting on our gummy bears!  However, the BEST ones were the ones that we got to EAT after our experiments were done--of course, we didn't need to test them.  :)
