Writing Our Own Folktales

We have been reading several examples of folktales such as "The Tortoise and the Hare," "Why the Camel Has a Hump," and etc.  So, we decided that it would be fun to write our own.  :)  First, we thought about which animal(s) that we would like to write about and what could we explain about them.  Then we got into small groups and brainstormed different ideas.  Next, we wrote our first draft, revised our own work, and helped to edit another group's paper.  Finally, we typed our final draft and digitally illustrated a picture for it.

3A's Christmas Party :)

On December 21, 3A had their annual Christmas Party.  We exchanged gifts, played "Jenga" (life-size) and "Win, Lose, or Draw," and ate lots of yummy snacks.  It was a great party!  :)

Christmas Around the World

3A has been working very hard on their "Christmas Around the World" projects.  They had to pick a  country that they wanted to learn more about.  Then  they completed the research packet by looking up and answering various questions about how people in that country celebrates Christmas and/or other winter holidays.  Next, they dressed their gingerbread person in the traditional way of that country and completed the sheets that are pictured below.  Finally, we will be completing our Google  Slide shows showing what we learned about our countries.  :)

Verbs, Verbs, Verbs!

In Language, we have been identifying action verbs.  So, we thought it'd be fun to make "Verb Collages."  We searched for action verbs in magazines, cut them out, and glued them on a paper to form the word "verb."
