After we finished finding all of those places, we were given some time [and a magnifier :)] to look more closely at the map to see if we could find even more 'interesting' things. For example, we found something called a 'stone canal aquaduct.' We wondered what that was, but Mrs. Pfeiffer said that we would have to wait until we started our Paulding County History booklet to find out. Ughhhh! The suspense! ;)

A Great Way to Fight Germs!
Today, Mrs. Farley (our guidance counselor who used to be Miss Yenser last year๐) came in and talked to us about germs. She showed us how germs can transfer from any object to our hands by using a plate of water and pepper ("pretend germs").
Eeeeeeeewwww!!!! Gross germs!!!! ๐
Then, she showed us the #1 way to protect yourself from germs...just wash your hands with soap and water. We dipped our fingertip into the soap from the cup and gently touched the "germy" water. The "germs" ran away from the soap!

Math Review with Games
On Wednesday, we reviewed place value and played a game called "Written Relay." The object of the game was to make a smaller number than our buddy--which sounds a lot easier than it really was because we couldn't see which 'place' our buddy was putting his/her digit once one of us had rolled the die. Below are the official directions.
Some of the us seemed to be winning more rounds than others so Mrs. Pfeiffer asked if we could share our 'secret' with our buddies. A useful tip was "If you roll a big digit, put that one in one of the boxes at the end. The small digit should go in the boxes towards the front." :)

Introducing Our New 3rd Grade Crews!
Welcome back to school, everyone! We missed you!
Even though I wasn't able to take an actual class picture due to social distancing, I wanted to still have a "class picture" to introduce our new 3rd grade crews!

Set Fractions: Skittles Edition:)
This week, we started learning about fractions. And...what better way to learn about set fractions than with Skittles?:). First, we counted our total amount of Skittles in each of our packages and wrote that number as our denominator. Then we sorted them by color and wrote that number as the numerator. We checked our numbers by adding the numerators which would equal the denominator. Then, of course, we eat them!:)
