Christmas Party! :)

For our Christmas party, we exchanged gifts, played some really fun games, and ate lots of yummy food!  Thank you to our parent helpers and everyone who donated food and/or drinks.  We really appreciated it!  :)

"Christmas Around the World" Projects

The third graders worked very hard on their "Christmas Around the World" projects.  They had to pick a country that they wanted to learn more about.  Then, they completed the research packet by looking up and answering various questions about how people in that country celebrates Christmas and/or other winter holidays.  Next, they dressed their gingerbread person in the traditional way of that country.  Finally, they created a Google Slide presentation and presented it to the rest of their classmates as well as the first and second graders.  Mr. O'Donnell even included it in the 4th, 5th, and 6th Graders' Christmas Program.  :)

"If You Give a _________ a __________" Stories

Before Christmas Break, we read several of Laura Numeroff's books such as "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" and "If You Give a Cat a Cupcake."  They are excellent examples of cause and effect--even if they get side-tracked sometimes.  :)

So, we wrote our own versions of "If You Give a _____ a _____."  We typed them up using Google Docs and then illustrated each page.  We were so proud of them so we wanted to share them with others.  The preschoolers and Young Kindergarten students were awesome listeners and even suggested ideas of how they would've written their own.  :)  

Happy Veterans Day!

Last Friday, November 10, we put on the 3rd Grade's Annual Veterans Day program.  We worked super hard on memorizing our lines for our speaking parts and memorizing the songs and singing them the best that we could.  We really wanted to do a good job for our community's veterans because we know how much they gave to us.  

During the Armed Forces Medley, it was so awesome seeing all the veterans standing up and representing their own branch that they actually served in. 

We had some of the Student Council members hand them a flower to show our gratitude for their dedication, devotion, and sacrifice for our country.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!  WE APPRECIATE YOU MORE THAN YOU KNOW!  :)

Our final song, "American Tears," featured soloist, Olivia Zartman.  She was so nervous, but she did a FANTASTIC job!  (By the way, after the program in the room, she told Mrs. Pfeiffer, "I didn't know that I could do that!")  Mrs. Pfeiffer was SUPER PROUD of all of them for doing such a WONDERFUL job!  :)

Character Word for the Month: Gratitude

Our character word for the month of November is "Gratitude."  Gratitude means being thankful and grateful for what you have.  Mrs. Schmidt, our guidance counselor, came in and discussed what it meant to her.  Then we brainstormed what it meant to us.  Mrs. Pfeiffer wrote our responses on the poster below.  Then Mrs. Schmidt let us decorate cookies--not for us--but for someone who we want to show our gratitude to.  After we decorated the cookies, we put them in a baggy and wrote a special note to our special someone as to why we are so grateful for them.  It was so much fun!  :)

Legos and Game Day Raider Pride Reward Party!

Here's another party that we got to come up with and vote on.  It's called "Legos and Game Day."  It was our reward for showing our "Raider Pride" last quarter.  "Raider Pride" is when we make good choices by showing that we care about ourselves, our work, and other people; demonstrating a positive attitude and a sense of responsibility; and putting forth our very best effort.
