The Pillowcase Project

On October 12, Derek, Tierra, and Jackson from the American Red Cross and the OSU Lima Campus came to our room to talk to us about the "Pillowcase Project."  This is an AMAZING program that teaches kids about the importance of being prepared in case of an emergency such as a tornado or fire by using the three steps, "Learn, Practice, and Share."  We received a "My Preparedness Workbook," a personalized pillowcase with suggested items to include in case of emergency.  We also received a pledge certificate.  FREEBIE ALERT!!!!  If you contact the American Red Cross, they will come out to your house and install FREE smoke alarms for FREE!!!!!!  AWESOME!!!!

They also taught us a really good coping skill to use to calm us down.  It's called "Breathing In the Good Color (our favorite color) and Breathing Out the Bad Color (our least favorite color)."

Here are our pillowcases after we decorated them.  We even got to keep a fabric marker to decorate them more at home.  :)
