"Eat Like a Bird" Lab

This week, we have been observing the owls from Alessondra's OKC Great Horned Owl-Cam.  One of the eggs hatched last Saturday, and the other hatched this week.  They are sooooo cute!  So, we did a lab called "Eat Like a Bird" where we observed different birds' beaks and pretended to eat like them.

Below are some pictures from our lab.

We had to figure out which foods (gummy worm, Swedish fish, raisins, and sunflower seeds) would be easier to eat with a long, pointed beak (tweezers), a curved beak (clothespin), and a scooped beak (spoon).

Needless to say, Altera the owl showed us how it's done.  :)
